RIDERS
Diana Ramos de Tejeda
Las Marismas is the training base for Dominican
Equestrian Team member Diana Ramos de Tejeda. She and Nienke, a
9-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare, helped the Dominican Republic Dressage
Team finish fourth place out of ten teams at 2003 Pan American Games.
Diana is a 34-year-old economist from Santo
Domingo, Dominican Republic. Working full-time, her success in dressage
is due to her hard work and dedication. In 2002, Diana, who is coached
by Holland's Diederik Wigmans, competed on Florida’s winter
circuit and Canada’s summer circuit.
Riding Arabella, a 12-year-old Dutch mare by
Blanc Rivage XX, she helped the Dominican Republic to its first-ever
win of the FEI World Dressage Challenge, an international event
sponsored by Performance Sales International (PSI), with her win
in the Advanced class with 61.43%. Later that year, she competed
as an individual in the Advanced division at the 2002 FEI Dressage
Championships of the Americas held in Blainville, Quebec.
Topping off the year, Diana and Arabella were
members of the Dominican Republic Dressage Team that won the individual
bronze medal at the 2002 Central American Games held in El Salvador.
With a solid performance record behind her,
Diana, aboard Nienke, competed in Florida and Kentucky in early
2003 in preparation for representing her country at the 2003 Pan
American Games being held in Dominican Republic. In front of a hometown
crowd, they helped the Dominican Republic Dressage Team place fourth
overall.
With the Pan American Games behind her,
Diana plans to continue to build her partnership with Nienke and
represent her country at future international competitions.
