We have finally purchased the two dressage
horses that will hopefully take Yvonne Losos and Georgie Fernandez
to the 2003 Pan Am games. Georgie's horse is an approved KWPN 14
year-old dark bay stallion named Focus, who has an impeccable pedigree
(Pele x Farn), while Yvonne will get an eight-year old chestnut
stallion called Landolee. Landolee is also very well bred, by Anky
van Grunsven's old partner Cocktail, out of a Doruto mother, and
like Focus he is also very impressive. Both horses will arrive in
late July to the Dominican Republic, being shipped in December to
Florida in order to take part in the Winter Equestrian Festival
in West Palm Beach.

So
far we have been quite lucky with this year's breeding program.
All of our PRE (Andalusian) mares have been confirmed pregnant,
some by Soñador XIII, some by Hilandero X and one by Janna Rumbaugh's
Gaucho. In Canada we have confirmed in foal Jurella (Concorde x
Cadmus XX) to Ahorn, Pelusa (Lester x Burggraaf) to Caretino and
R. Adermie 4 (Coriander x Joost) to Indoctro. Still pending are
Moneypenny (Westfalian) to Ahorn, Nulanda (Burggraax x Voltaire)
to Caretino and Ronda (Thoroughbred) to Corland. In Holland both
Dwarla (Joost x Abgar XX) and Karona (Notaris x Irak) are in foal
to Voltaire, while O. Anuberth 2 (Burggraaf x Joost) is being bred
to Hemmingway. These last three mares will be shipped to Canada
later in the summer.

Tango at the 2000 Winter
Equestrian Festival |
Yvonne and Georgie have returned home after
a very succesful campaign in the 2001 Cosequin Winter Equestrian
Festival, where they showed eight horses in both jumping and dressage.
Yvonne’s best results in the circuit were obtained with Air du Prelet,
the experienced Selle Francaise gelding purchased last fall by José
Manuel Ramos in Holland. With Prelet Yvonne was in the top ten a
number of times in the Amateur-Owner Low classes (1.20-1.30m), earning
the most money with him. With Ms. Moneypenny, a Wesphalian mare
that also showed in the 1.20-1.30m Amateur-Owner Low division, Yvonne
obtained a third, a fourth and a sixth in the Sunday classes. The
undisputed sensation, however, was Tango, a six-year old 15.3 hand
palomino Spanish cross gelding that was entered in the Amateur-Owner
Medium (1.30-1.40m) and Americhoice Open Speed (1.40m) classes,
where he had a good showing despite being the smallest horse around
!! His outstanding technique and quick reflexes were admired by
many, and there were serious offers on him which were promptly turned
down. Georgie also had good results in dressage, where he competed
with Ms. Moneypenny in the Open Level 2 classes with scores in the
high 50’s, despite Moneypenny being a jumper.
2001
In
the 2001 edition of CHIO Aachen, the Royal School of Equestrian
Arts from Jerez, Spain, played a significant role-they brought over
forty stallions to perform for the crowds and help promote the 2002
World Equestrian Games in Jerez. A leading role was played by the
stunning bay Diosdado stallion Judio, who performed a "riendas largas"
routine in the Dressage Stadium.
