Feb 19 - 23, Zada Enterprises LLC Wellington
Masters, CSI ***
Yvonne Losos de Muniz started the week
off with a bang when she and Carioca Las Marismas, a 9-year-old
Argentinean mare, finished eighth out 141, an incredibly high number
of competitors in the 1.30m class. After posting a clear first round,
Yvonne rode a slick jump-off along side the veterans, including
winner Margie Engle.
The next day Rodrigo Diaz-Kraus had two horses
in the top five of the $2,500 High Amateur-Owner Power and Speed
class. Out of 26 entries, the team gold medallist at the 2002 Central
American Games finished third aboard Tatabra Mefisto Las Marismas,
a 9-year-old Argentinean gelding owned by Laura Turbay, and fifth
with Amoante Las Marismas, a 9-year-old Thoroughbred owned by Jaime
Enrique Diaz.
Saturday proved successful for Team Las Marismas
as Rodrigo and Yvonne took to the International ring for the $15,000
High Amateur-Owner class. From a large field of 53 competitors,
Rodrigo and Tatabra Mefisto Las Marismas kept all of the rails up
to advance to the jump-off. The pair rode a clean, conservative
round to finish six overall. Yvonne finished close behind in ninth
place with Carioca Las Marismas. First to go in the jump-off, Yvonne
was the fastest four-faulter in the course designed by Olaf Petersen.
In the $1,500 Low Amateur-Owner class taking
place across the show grounds in the DeNemethy Ring, Luciana Solari
charmed the spectators with Tango Las Marismas, the 15.2hh Palomino
Spanish-bred gelding. From a starting field of 59, the duo finished
eighth after their speedy jump-off round.
Along with these mounts, Team Las Marismas
competed several horses, including many young ones in the Schooling
Jumper Division. Find a complete list of horses by clicking on

February 13 - 16, Florida Dressage Classic
With scores in the 70's, Yvonne Losos de Muniz
had a near sweep of the Advanced division at the Florida Dressage
Classic.
Out of eleven in Thurday's opener, Yvonne and
Inatana Las Marismas were the clear winners of the Prix St. Georges
class with a brilliant score of 70.750%. Following a distant second
place with 63.875% was Danish team member Lars Peterson aboard Dansko's
Success. Ranked fifth in the world, he finished fourth at the 2001
and second at the 2002 World Cup Finals.
Having set the bar high, Yvonne continued her
winning streak on Friday by capturing the FEI Intermediare I. In
a class of 24 top dressage riders, Yvonne and Inatana Las Marismas
rode another fantastic test and were awarded 69%. Following a close
second was George Williams and Marnix with 68.13% while Diane Hackley-Anderson
and Maikel settled for third with 67.875%.
After a one-day break, Sunday's Intermediare
I Freestyle, the third of three U.S. qualifying classes for the
Pan Am Games, saw 11 of the best horses and riders perform their
signature tests to music in front of a packed ringside audience.
Jan Brons and Josien, winners of two previous Pan Am Games qualifiers
two weeks earlier at the Wellington Dressage Show, stole the show
with their winning Intermediare Freestyle that earned them 73.667%.
Yvonne and Inatana Las Marismas were hardly
outdone however. They received an amazing score of 71.5% to finish
second. The Freestyle, choreographed by Terry Ciotti-Gallo of Klassic
Kur, eloquently captures a little of Yvonne's Latin home. Reese
Koffler took third place aboard Joery with 68.667%.
Aboard Lando Lee Las Marismas, his Championships
of the America's horse, George Fernández rode his first Prix St.
Georges test of the season. With a score of 61.625% this was the
perfect warm-up for Saturday's Intermediare I class in which George
and the 10-year-old gelding by Cocktail finished 12th out of 20
with 63.375%.
George also provided the necessary guidance
for the young River Plate, a 5-year-old gelding by Iroko, who tackled
the four First Level tests, one each day of the show. Starting off
strong, Test 1 proved their best class of the week with a score
of 66.296%, good for seventh out of 17. Test 2 and 3 placed them
in the bottom third of the class but by Sunday's Test 4, they had
settled in and rode to a score of 62.361% to finish ninth out of
15.
Along with these mounts, Team Las Marismas
competed several horses, including many young ones in the First
Level division. Find a complete list of horses by clicking on
